VISION
A thriving, friendly lawn bowling community.
MISSION
To grow the sport of lawn bowling while encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle.
Mann Park is situated in “sunny White Rock” just south of 16 Avenue on the corner of High Street. The property is part of a recreation complex with a residential area to the west of it. The bowling surface is natural grass which is maintained by a group of enthusiastic volunteers as well as company specializing in the care of lawn bowling greens.
Bowling season opens in April and extends through until the middle of September. This club offers regular bowling in the form of club leagues and daily recreational play. During the season there are special competitions for members who play on mixed or unisex teams. There are also fun days when the rules of the game may change according to the wishes of the co-ordinator.
Mann Park hosts visitations from other clubs and supports Vancouver & District interclub games, both at home and away. More competitive members have the opportunity to compete in select Vancouver & District competitions as well as try out to play in national competitions by winning a game at the provincial level.
Once the bowling season is over the club remains active by supporting indoor carpet bowling. Members also have the opportunity to get together at a variety of social events. The Christmas party hosts about ninety people to a full turkey dinner and sing-a-long. Robbie Burns night is very traditional with piping in of the haggis, and the reading of Scottish poems.
The club thrives well because of a keen and positive membership. Income is generated through membership dues. Nearly everyone volunteers to help with something thus producing a strong team spirit among the players.
