What a great celebration of BC Day we had at Mann Park! We had 56 bowlers come out for our special event.
For starters, the clubhouse looked great thanks to the prep work and decorating skills of many volunteers. The green was in great shape too, and freshly cut and rolled. The flags were flying and equipment was set up and ready for our bowlers thanks to the many volunteers who answered the call for help with the multiple pregame tasks.
We took a quick group photo before getting underway with our first game…an 8-end fun Novelty game, which included bowling with your opposite hand, so bowling left handed for most of us! And two ends where the jack gets thrown after all the bowls have been delivered. The skips traded teams for the second game (none too smoothly in some cases) and we bowled an 8-end regular game. It was a very warm day and the bottles of water supplied by Oceana PARC were certainly appreciated.
Prizes were awarded to 22 teams altogether from the two games, including wild card draws and prizes even for last place. A lot of extra prizes were thanks to our Sponsor, Oceana PARC!
We had a successful 50/50 draw for the club as well as selling raffle tickets for the Oceana PARC gift basket.
After our usual happy hour, we were treated to Henry’s BBQ chicken cooked over an open charcoal pit in the parking lot. The chicken was accompanied with 2 salads and dessert. A scrumptious dinner that was obviously a good choice as 68 people were enjoying it!
This event could not have happened without numerous volunteers for set-up and take down of equipment, decorating, organizing the food and the games, working the bar, working in the kitchen and numerous other activities. A great thank-you to all our wonderful volunteers!!
