First, a big thank you!!
Thanks to our Mann Park bowlers who a) encouraged their friends and family to give lawn bowls a try, b) participated in recruiting new members and c) supported the Pony League. Without your effort, there would be no novices.
Our Coaches and Coaching Assistants deserve special recognition for their selfless service and dedication to new bowlers. More than 90 non-bowlers received coaching in 2022. Mann Park’s coaching staff includes
- Coaches (a to z) – Dianne Brynjolfson, Jim Carter, Al Decaire, Carol Hartnett, Pat Smart (head Coach), Garry Stronach, David Tones, Stan Turner, Derrick Watling and Geoff Wells.
- Coaching Assistants (a to z) – Rob Bakshi, Vinod Bakshi, Gina Guszowaty, and Ron Mulhern.
Presenting to Our Graduating Novices!
Congratulations to the 30 Novices who completed the introductory lawn bowling lessons and the 22 who participated in the Pony League. You’ve come a long way!

The Festivities – Triples Game:
The weather was hot. Under Tony Numan’s watchful eye, club members buzzed about, setting up the rinks and ensuring shade umbrellas and ice water were in place. The draw went smoothly under the lead of Gaston Essiambre and Annetta Brownsword. The green was packed with 16 triples teams filling all 8 rinks. The games went well, with all teams finishing 10 ends before 3:00 PM.

The Festivities – Diploma Presentation Party:
Mann Park President Hilary Callihoo presided. The first rule of order was to assemble the novices with a large graduation cake for a commemorative picture. Once completed, the cake was quickly carved and dispensed to the waiting crowd.
Hilary thanked each coach and assistant coach for a job well done. Next came the introduction of a) Pat Smart, MP Head Coach and b) Bette Hutchinson representing Oceana PARC, the sponsor of the Novice Graduation. Pat called each graduate forward for recognition by the membership and acceptance of their Certificate of Achievement. Bette spoke briefly and presented Oceana Parc sun visors to each grad.

Hotshots 101 Awards:
In June, Stan Turner coached three 90-minute Hotshots-101 sessions. The objective was for participants to increase their bowling skills and competitiveness.
Stan designed the Hotshots-101 Certificates and asked Dianne Brynjolfson to present the awards on his behalf.
