Thursday January 24. Robbie Burn’s Day Party
Over seventy people attended the Burn’s night party. Thanks to the people who attended, and to the planning and preparation by the social committee, it was a great success. Vic Murray gave a wonderful address to the haggis. Not many people understood what Vic was saying (Scottish accent) but he was very well received.
The food was cooked by Bernice and her kitchen friends who did an excellent job. Desserts were all homemade and they too were excellent.
It is interesting to see how important social events are to people who came together because of a game! Those who once valued the club for the sport, help mould the club of today, stay on because of the friendships and social life.
As a footnote: the club is showing evidence of exponential growth. The number of pipers doubled this year!
